Free Calls to Japan For Bright House Networks Home Phone and Business Phone Customers


Orlando, Fla.

In order to ease concerns as customers reach out to friends, family and colleagues in Japan, Bright House Networks announced its commitment to make all Home Phone and Business Phone customer calls to Japan free of charge through April 15, 2011, retroactive to calls placed beginning March 11, 2011. Bright House Networks’ Home Phone and Business Phone customers will not be charged for any calls to land lines or cell phone numbers in Japan. 

“We at Bright House Networks are here to help connect our customers to their friends, family and colleagues in Japan,” said Kevin Hyman, Executive Vice President, Cable Operations.  “We understand how important communication is to those who have been through such devastation.  We are thinking of all of those impacted and hope to alleviate some worry by providing this program.”

Customers who are making calls to Japan during the program timeframe will be issued a credit on their account for any direct dial calls made to Japan, with no need to do anything else.  Credits for all calls made during the program time period will appear on customer accounts in May.  Calls to operators or directory assistance are not direct dial calls, so these will be charged at the usual rate.

“All phone communication networks may be overburdened in Japan, so it may take some time to reach the person you’re calling,” said Hyman.  “Again, we want to provide this assistance so that it may reduce some of the concern our customers are facing with their loved ones in Japan.”
