Program Guidelines
PRIZE
Enter as a team, of up to three teachers, or individually and your project could win a cash prize of up to $3,000. Projects with a team of educators will share the cash prize. Each winning teacher is guaranteed at least $1,000. In June all winners and a guest will attend a special Education Celebration awards banquet. Each recipient will also receive a Tiffany's Crystal Star.
CRITERIA
Eligible educators (K-12) who work at state accredited public or private U.S. schools located within the Bright House Networks service area. All projects must have taken place between September 2009 and February 2010. Note: Teachers who won the previous year’s competition can apply to compete, but must partner with a new teacher in order for their application to be eligible to win.
PROJECTS
All projects must involve cable television programming from networks associated with Cable in the Classroom. Projects should focus on areas such as curriculum development, cross-curricular studies, classroom-to-community activities, classroom-to-classroom activities, study-related materials/websites, audiovisual productions and/or multimedia applications, or cable technology used (i.e., broadband internet service, interactive games for CIC website). ENTRY DEADLINE
Completed entries from a teacher (or teacher team of up to three teachers) must be received no later than March 1, 2010. All materials submitted will NOT be returned. Please make a copy of your entry before mailing.
SUBMITTING ENTRIES
Entries must be submitted online. If you wish to include projects materials to support your entry, it must be submitted in an 8 ½ x 11" binder. Lessons plans, student examples, and other printed materials that support your entry can be included. Audio visual entries must be on ¾" or ½" VHS format tapes or DVD, not more than four minutes in length. Indicate start/stop cues on tape label or provide a cue sheet if more than one clip is on the tape. Please label all materials completely with a project title, teacher name(s), school name, address and phone number. All suport materials must be shipped pre-paid. Send all entry support materials to:

JUDGING
An impartial panel of knowledgeable professionals in education and television will judge all entries. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
- Overall program content
- Quality of materials and activities
- Innovative approach
- Cable programming relevance to the curriculum
- Effective use of cable programming
- Learning benefits to students
- Duration of the project
- Number of students affected
